Primates are used in asthma research because they have a similar respiratory system to humans. They are used to test and inhalers and nebulizers. The use of non-human primates allows for a more accurate of how humans would react to things. Also, primates can be used to see how certain allergens affect their body and how that stems into other diseases. This allows for researchers to make "leaps and bounds" in their research of asthma through non-human primates.
